InfoSAWIT, PADANG LAWAS UTARA – PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI) has donated two school buses to SD-SMP YADIKA, located within the Bukit Harapan oil palm plantation operated by PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara (Persero) in North Padang Lawas Regency, reinforcing efforts to improve educational access and student transportation safety in plantation communities.
The donation was delivered through BRI’s Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program in partnership with Agrinas Palma Nusantara, reflecting a shared commitment to community welfare and inclusive educational development.
The symbolic handover ceremony was attended by BRI Sibuhuan Branch Head Dedi Harpian, SD-SMP YADIKA Principal Lamro Sitanggang, Agrinas Regional Head for North Sumatra Ret. Maj. Gen. Nunu Nugraha, TJSL General Manager Gatut Mukti, along with local government officials, community leaders, religious figures, village heads, and residents.
Speaking at the event, Nunu Nugraha thanked BRI for its support, describing the buses as a tangible example of strategic collaboration between the banking and plantation sectors in advancing education.
“Agrinas Palma Nusantara is committed to creating benefits wherever we operate. We hope this support helps students access learning through safer, more comfortable transportation,” he said.
School representatives also welcomed the initiative, noting that the buses would significantly improve operational mobility while giving parents greater confidence in student safety during daily school commutes.
The ceremony included a ribbon-cutting and symbolic key handover, witnessed by students, teachers, company employees, and local residents.
The partnership highlights how Indonesia’s palm oil sector can extend its contribution beyond economic growth—delivering meaningful social impact through stronger educational access, community infrastructure, and sustainable rural development. (T2)
