KPBN CPO Prices Ease on May 6 as Malaysian Palm Oil Futures Extend Decline

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Crude palm oil (CPO) prices at state marketing agency PT Kharisma Pemasaran Bersama Nusantara (KPBN) edged lower on Wednesday (May 6, 2026), while Malaysian palm oil futures closed sharply weaker amid pressure from falling crude oil and soybean oil prices.

KPBN set CPO prices at Rp15,575/kg on Wednesday, down Rp50/kg compared to Rp15,625/kg recorded a day earlier.

According to information obtained by InfoSAWIT from KPBN, Franco Dumai CPO was set at Rp15,575/kg. Meanwhile, Loco Parindu opened at Rp15,222/kg but was later withdrawn, with the highest bid reaching Rp15,062/kg. Loco Kembayan was set at Rp15,125/kg.

At the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange (BMD), the benchmark July 2026 palm oil contract fell RM133 per ton, or 2.82%, closing at RM4,577 per metric ton.

According to Reuters, palm oil prices came under pressure after global crude oil prices dropped to their lowest level in two weeks amid expectations of a possible framework agreement between Washington and Iran that could increase global oil supply.

Lower crude oil prices reduce palm oil’s attractiveness as a biodiesel feedstock, one of the key demand drivers in the global market.

Chicago Board of Trade soybean oil futures also fell 2.39%, adding further pressure to palm oil prices as the two vegetable oils compete for market share globally.

Despite the bearish tone in Malaysia, Asian vegetable oil markets showed mixed performance, with Dalian’s most-active soyoil contract rising 0.78% and its palm oil contract gaining 0.37%.
