InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Indonesia’s palm oil industry showed a strengthening trend in February 2026, reflected in increased production, domestic consumption, and exports at the beginning of the year.
Executive Director of the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI), Mukti Sardjono, revealed that crude palm oil (CPO) production in February 2026 reached 5.015 million tons, up 4.96% from 4.778 million tons in January.
“CPO production in February 2026 reached 5.015 thousand tons, an increase of 4.96% from the previous month’s 4.778 thousand tons. PKO production also increased, bringing total CPO+PKO production to 5.500 thousand tons, up 5.04% compared to January,” Mukti said in an official statement.
On a year-on-year basis, total CPO and PKO production reached 10.737 million tons by February 2026, a sharp increase of 28.94% compared to 8.327 million tons in the same period of 2025.
Domestic Consumption Up 9.55%
On the domestic demand side, consumption also increased significantly. Total consumption in February 2026 reached 2.305 million tons, up 9.55% from January’s 2.104 million tons.
“Domestic consumption rose from 2.104 thousand tons in January to 2.305 thousand tons in February 2026, with the largest increase seen in the food and biodiesel sectors,” he added.
Food consumption rose by 16.55% to 986 thousand tons, while biodiesel increased by 7.12% to 1.144 million tons. Meanwhile, oleochemical consumption declined by 7.89% to 175 thousand tons.
Year-on-year, domestic consumption reached 4.409 million tons, up 12.96% from 3.903 million tons in the same period last year.
Exports Increase 7.01%
From the export side, total shipments of Indonesian palm oil products reached 3.297 million tons in February 2026, up 7.01% from January’s 3.081 million tons.
“Total palm oil exports in February 2026 increased to 3.297 thousand tons, up 7.01% from the previous month, with increases seen across nearly all product categories,” Mukti explained.
The largest increase was recorded in processed palm kernel oil, which rose by 36.80%, followed by CPO (up 18.98%), processed palm oil (up 4.37%), and oleochemicals (up 2.67%).
Year-on-year, exports reached 6.378 million tons, up 33.96% compared to 4.761 million tons in 2025.
Export growth was strongest to China (+152 thousand tons), Malaysia (+116 thousand tons), the European Union (+78 thousand tons), India (+56 thousand tons), the United States (+43 thousand tons), and the Middle East (+42 thousand tons). Meanwhile, exports declined to Pakistan, Africa, Bangladesh, and Russia.
With this positive trend, Indonesia’s palm oil industry is expected to maintain strong prospects throughout 2026, supported by increasing global demand. (T2)
