InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Sad news has come from the family of Indonesia’s former Minister of Agriculture (2000–2004), Prof. Dr. Ir. Bungaran Saragih. His beloved wife, Mrs. Mihoko Nakamura, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 14:45 WIB at the age of 81.

Her passing has left deep sorrow for the extended Saragih Garingging and Nakamura families. According to information from the family, Mihoko was known as a loving figure who faithfully accompanied her husband throughout his life journey, including during his tenure as Minister of Agriculture.

During her lifetime, she was also known as a humble person with strong faith. This is reflected in the Bible verse shared by the family in the obituary: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7).

She is survived by her husband, Prof. Bungaran Saragih; her daughter, Erina Nakamura Saragih; her son-in-law, Arief Laksana Damanik; and her grandson, Owen Nasara Laksana Damanik.

Condolences were also expressed by the Editor-in-Chief of InfoSAWIT, Ignatius Ery Kurniawan. He stated that her passing is a profound loss for the entire InfoSAWIT family, considering that Prof. Bungaran Saragih has been a member of the InfoSAWIT Editorial Board since 2007.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors and all staff of InfoSAWIT, we extend our deepest condolences on the passing of Mrs. Mihoko Nakamura. May she rest in peace, and may the family she leaves behind—especially Prof. Bungaran Saragih—be granted strength, resilience, and comfort,” said Ery.

The InfoSAWIT family also expressed their deep sense of loss and sincere prayers for the late Mihoko Nakamura and her bereaved family.

Her passing is not only a loss for her family but also for those who knew her as a warm and devoted figure in family life. (T2)
