Helicopter PK-CFX Carrying KPN Plantation COO Crashes in Sekadau, 8 People Reported On Board

InfoSAWIT, WEST KALIMANTAN – A helicopter with registration number PK-CFX was reported to have lost contact in Nanga Taman Subdistrict, Tapang Tingang Village, Sekadau Regency, West Kalimantan, on Wednesday morning (April 16, 2026).

Quoted by InfoSAWIT from the Pontianak Search and Rescue Office (Kansar), on Thursday (April 16, 2026), initial information was received from AirNav through its representative Rahmat at 10:40 WIB. The report stated that the helicopter owned by PT Matthew Air lost contact at 08:39 WIB while en route from Melawi to Kubu Raya.

Based on collected data, the helicopter carried eight people, consisting of two crew members and six passengers. The crew included Pilot in Command (PIC) Capt. Marindra W. and Engineer on Board (EOB) Harun Arasyid. Meanwhile, the six passengers were from PT Karunia Prima Nastari (KPN Corp), including the COO of KPN Plantation, identified as Patrick K., Victor T., Charles L., Joko C., Fauzie O., and Sugito.

The estimated crash location was at coordinates 00°12’00” S and 110°44’00” E, approximately 114 kilometers with a radial of 258 degrees from the Sintang SAR Post.

Chronologically, the helicopter departed at 08:34 local time and was scheduled to arrive at 08:50. However, it lost contact during the flight near Nanga Taman.

Following the incident, SAR teams were immediately deployed. At 11:00 WIB, the Sintang SAR rescue team headed to the location using a rescue vehicle equipped with evacuation, medical, communication, and navigation tools.

Five minutes later, Kansar Pontianak also dispatched two teams—Rescue and Communication units—equipped with direction finder devices and satellite communication systems to accelerate the search operation.

The joint SAR team continues search and rescue efforts. The helicopter has been found in a destroyed condition. (T2)
