Wilmar Strengthens Plantation and Sugar Segment, Focuses on Productivity

InfoSAWIT, SINGAPORE – Global agribusiness company Wilmar International continues to strengthen its Plantation & Sugar Milling segment by focusing on productivity and operational efficiency amid global challenges.

Quote InfoSAWIT from the company’s annual report, on Thursday (April 16, 2026), Wilmar recorded a total planted area of 234,334 hectares of oil palm as of end-2025.

Additionally, through joint ventures, the company manages approximately 58,000 hectares in Uganda and West Africa, along with 36,597 hectares under smallholder schemes and 189,806 hectares through associated companies.

“Currently, about 47% of the plantations are in their prime productive age of 7–18 years, while 20% are six years old or younger,” management stated in the report.

In the sugar segment, Wilmar operates mills across Australia, India, Myanmar, and China, processing around 14 million metric tons of sugarcane annually.

The Plantation & Sugar Milling segment recorded a 32% increase in profit before tax to US$356.5 million in FY2025, although performance softened in the second half due to declining commodity prices.

Looking ahead to 2026, the company expects global palm oil production to remain relatively flat due to aging trees and weather variability. (T2)
