InfoSAWIT, SAROLANGUN – A clash between the Orang Rimba, also known as Suku Anak Dalam (SAD), and a palm oil company’s security personnel broke out in Bukit Suban Village, Air Hitam District, Sarolangun Regency, Jambi, on Sunday (April 12, 2026), leaving at least four SAD residents injured.

According to InfoSAWIT, citing Detik on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, the incident was triggered by a misunderstanding between the SAD community and company security, despite earlier mediation regarding alleged theft of fresh fruit bunches (FFB).

Videos circulating online show damage to company facilities, including shattered windows at offices and staff housing, as well as reports of fires at the site.

Sarolangun Police Chief AKBP Wendi Oktariansyah confirmed the incident, stating that the clash occurred shortly after mediation between both parties had concluded.

“Initially, the issue stemmed from allegations of palm fruit theft by SAD members. Mediation had been conducted earlier in the day and was considered resolved, but another clash occurred afterward,” he said.

He explained that tensions escalated when SAD residents passed through a company security post carrying FFB, which security personnel suspected to be illegally harvested, leading to an altercation.

“The security team suspected the fruit was freshly harvested illegally, which led to a misunderstanding,” he added.

The situation was further complicated by earlier disputes related to employment recruitment at the company.

Police deployed 96 personnel along with a Brimob platoon to secure the area and evacuate the injured for medical treatment. Authorities are continuing preventive and mediation efforts involving SAD leaders, the company, and other stakeholders.

“We are taking preemptive and preventive measures to maintain a conducive situation,” Wendi emphasized.

He also urged the public not to be provoked by unverified information circulating on social media. (T2)
