InfoSAWIT, SAMARINDA – Statistics Indonesia (BPS) of East Kalimantan reported that hundreds of agricultural companies operated in the plantation subsector throughout 2025, with palm oil dominating the landscape.
Based on the 2025 Agricultural Company Directory Update (DPP), a total of 223 plantation companies were recorded, of which 219 were engaged in oil palm cultivation, while six companies operated in rubber plantations.
The data was published in the East Kalimantan Agricultural Company Directory (DPP) 2025 Volume 3, released on March 9, 2026.
“It should be noted that one company may cultivate more than one plantation commodity,” BPS East Kalimantan stated in the report.
Plantation businesses are spread across eight regencies/cities and cover 18 commodities, including oil palm, rubber, cocoa, coffee, coconut, pepper, nutmeg, sugarcane, tobacco, and others.
Regionally, East Kutai Regency recorded the highest number of plantation companies with 78 firms (34.98%), followed by West Kutai (31 companies or 13.90%) and Paser (30 companies or 13.45%).
Meanwhile, Kutai Kartanegara recorded 29 companies (13.01%), Berau 25 companies (11.21%), Penajam Paser Utara and Balikpapan each had 11 companies (4.93%), and Mahakam Ulu recorded eight companies (3.59%).
BPS also highlighted that oil palm remains the dominant commodity.
“In terms of cultivated commodities, oil palm is the most dominant, with 219 companies or 95.22%,” the report noted. (T2)
