InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – The Indonesian Biofuel Producers Association (Aprobi) reported that the implementation of the B40 mandatory biodiesel program throughout 2025 achieved significant domestic distribution performance.
Aprobi Secretary General Ernest Gunawan revealed that biodiesel distribution realization as of December 2025 reached approximately 14.919 million kiloliters (KL), equivalent to 95.67% of the national target of 15.616 million KL for the year.
“The data we obtained after the activation and reconciliation process with relevant stakeholders shows that domestic B40 biodiesel distribution in 2025 reached about 95.67% of the established target,” Ernest said during a breaking-of-fast event attended by InfoSAWIT in Jakarta recently.
Of the total distribution, the Public Service Obligation (PSO) segment accounted for around 7.12 million KL, while the non-PSO segment reached approximately 8.4 million KL over the year.
Beyond distribution achievements, Ernest emphasized the program’s economic impact. Throughout 2025, the B40 mandate is estimated to have generated foreign exchange savings of Rp133.3 trillion.
The program also created significant added economic value and contributed to the absorption of approximately 1.8 million workers across the national biodiesel supply chain.
From an environmental perspective, biodiesel utilization helped reduce greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 39.6 million tons of CO₂ equivalent in 2025.
Aprobi views the continued implementation of the B40 mandate as a backbone of national energy resilience, strengthening the role of bioenergy in reducing emissions and increasing domestic value addition from palm oil commodities. (T2)
