InfoSAWIT, BUENOS AIRES – Rainfall across central and northern Argentina over the past week has brought relief to soybean crops for the 2025/2026 planting season, according to the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange in its weekly report released last Friday.
According to Reuters, as published online by InfoSAWIT on Monday (23/2/2026), the total soybean area with optimal to adequate moisture conditions rose to 66%, marking a 10 percentage point increase from the previous week.
Previously, above-average temperatures throughout January combined with low rainfall had placed pressure on crops across major agricultural regions, raising concerns over potential declines in national soybean productivity.
The exchange estimates that Argentina—one of the world’s leading exporters of soybean oil and meal—will produce approximately 48.5 million metric tons of soybeans between October 2025 and June 2026.
Rainfall is also expected to support corn harvests, with Argentina’s corn production for the 2025/2026 season projected to reach a record 57 million metric tons. (T2)
