Over 95% of License Holders Use SIMS, MPOB Strengthens Palm Oil Traceability Through GeoSAWIT

InfoSAWIT, KUALA LUMPUR – More than 95 percent of license holders under the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) across various categories are actively using the Sawit Intelligent Management System (SIMS) as a national digital monitoring platform for Malaysia’s palm oil industry.

Director-General Datuk Ahmad Parveez Ghulam Kadir said SIMS has significant potential to function as an integrated data hub for the palm oil sector, enabling more efficient and effective monitoring and supply chain traceability.

“This system strengthens our ability to ensure that the national palm oil supply chain becomes increasingly transparent and well-structured,” he said during a briefing session on SIMS and the GeoSAWIT platform to government officials, as reported by Bernama and published by InfoSAWIT on Wednesday (February 18, 2026).

GeoSAWIT Upgrade Targeted for Completion by Mid-2026

During the session, Ahmad Parveez explained that the GeoSAWIT platform is currently being enhanced with advanced geospatial technology to map oil palm plantation coverage across Malaysia.

The GeoSAWIT control room at MPOB headquarters is expected to complete its upgrade by mid-2026.

GeoSAWIT leverages spatial data to support land-use monitoring, risk assessment, and compliance verification with increasingly stringent global market requirements—particularly those related to sustainability and transparency.

He added that GeoSAWIT has been developed through an inclusive, nationwide approach to ensure that all producer categories, especially Smallholders, remain integrated within a more regulated supply chain.

Discussions during the session focused on the SIMS traceability module and the fleet management module that monitors palm oil transportation using tanker trucks. Integration with GeoSAWIT through geospatial technology enables more accurate verification of planting locations.

According to Ahmad Parveez, strengthening digital systems is a strategic move to maintain Malaysia’s palm oil industry competitiveness by ensuring transparency, sustainability, and compliance with international market demands. (T2)
