APKASINDO North Kalimantan Pushes Palm Oil–SME Synergy and Local Talent Development

InfoSAWIT, BULUNGAN — The North Kalimantan chapter of the Indonesian Oil Palm Farmers Association (APKASINDO) conducted a working visit to the palm oil mill and plantation of PT Citra Sawit Lestari Damai Group on Saturday (January 10, 2026).

APKASINDO Chairman Khoiruddin emphasized that palm oil mills must generate tangible economic benefits for surrounding communities, particularly by strengthening palm oil–based small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

“Palm oil industries should not stand alone. Mills must stimulate local SMEs to create sustainable added value,” he said.

APKASINDO also encouraged internship programs for students from Universitas Borneo Tarakan to strengthen local human resources. The company welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed its commitment to purchasing fresh fruit bunches (FFB) from independent smallholders.

Students attending the visit said it provided valuable insight into palm oil processing from FFB reception to crude palm oil production. (T2)
