InfoSAWIT, KARAWANG – President Prabowo Subianto has announced plans for a renewed nationwide crackdown on illegal oil palm plantations, with the state preparing to seize an additional 4–5 million hectares in 2026.
Speaking during a harvest event in Karawang, West Java, on Wednesday (January 7, 2026), Prabowo said the government had already reclaimed around 4 million hectares of illegal plantations and would expand enforcement next year.
The President also highlighted ongoing action against illegal mining, noting that hundreds of unlicensed operations had been shut down, saving the state hundreds of trillions of rupiah in potential losses.
He urged the Forest Area Enforcement Task Force and law enforcement agencies, including the Attorney General’s Office, to maintain integrity and transparency throughout the process. (T2)
