SSMS Demonstrates Commitment to Sustainable Palm Oil Innovation at PTKS 2025 Yogyakarta

InfoSAWIT, YOGYAKARTA — PT Sawit Sumbermas Sarana Tbk (SSMS) has reaffirmed its role as a key player in the transformation of the national palm oil industry. At the Palm Oil Technical Meeting (PTKS) 2025 held in Yogyakarta on July 16-17, SSMS actively participated as a primary supporter of the event, as well as an exhibitor and seminar speaker.

PTKS, organized biennially by the Palm Oil Research Center (PPKS), serves as a strategic platform for researchers, practitioners, academics, and palm oil growers from across Indonesia to exchange ideas and share the latest innovations. This year, PTKS focused on the theme “Technology and Innovation Transformation for Sustainable Palm Oil,” a topic highly relevant to the challenges and future direction of the industry.

SSMS showcased its dual role—on the main stage and in the exhibition arena. Through its research unit, Sulung Research Station (SRS), the company presented agronomic development results claimed to address productivity challenges in the era of climate change and sustainability demands.

A key moment in the forum was the presentation by SRS Head Fizrul Indra Lubis, who discussed “Planting Pattern Strategies for Optimizing Fruit Set in Palm Oil: An Innovative Approach to Enhancing Productivity.” In his presentation, Fizrul emphasized the importance of data-driven approaches and the use of cutting-edge technology to promote harvesting efficiency and increase Fresh Fruit Bunch (FFB) yields.

“Planting patterns tailored to field data can help farmers and companies achieve more optimal harvests without the need to expand land. This is one of the keys to productive and sustainable palm oil,” Fizrul explained in a press statement received by InfoSAWIT on Thursday (July 17, 2025).

Meanwhile, at the exhibition area, SSMS's booth attracted visitors from various backgrounds. The company showcased research achievements, technological innovations, and best practices in palm oil management, ranging from precision fertilization, soil and water conservation, to community-based social approaches.

Over 700 participants attended PTKS 2025, representing more than 200 institutions and 33 exhibitors showcasing technological solutions and innovations to support the advancement of Indonesia's palm oil industry. The enthusiasm of the participants reflects a significant interest in a new, more scientific, and sustainable direction for managing the palm oil sector.

SSMS's presence at this event not only highlighted its technological offerings but also underscored the collaborative spirit the company embodies in building the national palm oil ecosystem. This was emphasized by SSMS Corporate Communication Manager Andre Taufan, who expressed the importance of synergy between the business and research sectors.

“Our hope in collaborating with PPKS moving forward is to continue providing tangible benefits for community welfare through the palm oil industry. Additionally, we aim to promote the development of knowledge and technology collaboratively through joint research,” Andre stated.

By combining research, technology, and sustainability practices, SSMS aims to remain a pioneer in transforming Indonesia's palm oil industry towards a greener, more inclusive, and globally competitive future. PTKS 2025 serves as a platform that reinforces this commitment. (T2)
