InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is actively driving the transformation of the national industry towards the digital era, in line with the Making Indonesia 4.0 roadmap. This time, the focus is on the palm oil processing industry, a strategic sector deemed crucial for national economic growth.
As a concrete step, the Directorate General of Agro Industry at Kemenperin has initiated a digitalization program for the downstream palm oil industry through the development of the Palm Oil and Its Derivatives Product Information System, or Siprosatu. This platform is designed to serve as the backbone for real-time reporting of raw material and product mass balance data, as well as a decision-making tool for regulators.
“Siprosatu will be the main system that allows for more accurate and efficient industry guidance and supervision,” said Putu Juli Ardika, Director General of Agro Industry at Kemenperin, in an official statement to InfoSAWIT on Tuesday (June 17, 2025).
Putu explained that through Siprosatu, the government and industry players can trace the palm oil product journey from upstream to the end consumer. This system will help ensure transparency throughout the supply chain and strengthen the accountability of state revenues from production, distribution, and export activities of palm oil derivatives.
The products monitored within this system include outputs from the CPO and RFM (refinery, fractionation, modification) industries, including palm oil, oleofood, and biodiesel.
Interestingly, Siprosatu is also designed to be flexible and can integrate with other service systems managed by ministries or state agencies. One planned integration is with the ISPO Information System to support the implementation of the Indonesia Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) certification.
In its development and training, Kemenperin collaborates with PT Siemens Indonesia as a strategic partner. Siemens plays a role in preparing human resources in the downstream palm oil sector to effectively use and manage the Siprosatu system.
“Siemens provides support in the form of training and technical guidance, including basic understanding of Making Indonesia 4.0 and business process digitalization,” said Putu.
Furthermore, Siemens is also involved in the system's development process, from hardware to humanware, to create an integrated and sustainable digital platform. This cross-sector collaboration is expected to accelerate the implementation of Siprosatu and strengthen the overall digitalization of the agro industry.
Putu emphasized that if this system operates optimally, not only will oversight improve, but also productivity and competitiveness of the downstream palm oil industry in the global market. This aligns with the strategic role of the agro industry in the national economy.
In the first quarter of 2025, the agro industry sector recorded a growth of 4.69 percent with total investments reaching IDR 38.72 trillion. This figure consists of IDR 21.33 trillion from foreign investment and IDR 17.39 trillion from domestic investment.
Moreover, the agro industry contributes up to 52.17 percent to the non-oil and gas industrial GDP and absorbs 9.37 million workers.
“These figures illustrate the importance of the agro industry, particularly palm oil processing, as a driving force for economic growth and job creation in Indonesia,” concluded Putu.
With technological support and multi-sector collaboration, Kemenperin is confident that digital transformation will elevate Indonesia's palm oil industry to a new level—more transparent, sustainable, and competitive on the global stage. (T2)
