Citing Reuters, palm oil futures on the Malaysian market also dropped on Monday (May 27, 2025) amid concerns over rising production and stock levels, as well as weakening global soybean oil prices.
The benchmark palm oil futures contract for August 2025 delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange declined by RM36 per ton, or about 0.94%, to RM3,791 per metric ton at the midday close. This is equivalent to around US$901.97 per ton.
David Ng, a trader at Kuala Lumpur-based brokerage Iceberg X Sdn Bhd, stated that the market is under pressure due to expectations of increased palm oil output in the coming weeks. In addition, concerns over swelling inventories are weighing on prices amid a lack of positive sentiment.
