InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA - Assistant Team of Deputy in Food and Agribusiness Coordination Coordinator Ministry in Economy, Ermanto Fahamsyah said that the new ISPO would regulate three main sectors in palm oil industries, they are, the first, about certification regulation in upstream (plantation); the second, about downstream (derivative industries); and the third, about bio energy and every actor in each sector should implement ISPO principles and criteria but there is no written regulation in detail in the president’s regulation (PR).
Ermanto continued though the regulation has no changes drastically but there two new regulations for other sectors, they are, downstream and bioenergy sectors. There would have implementation regulation according to the ministry in charge, for instance, in upstream or plantation sector, there would be regulation of minister of agriculture; in downstream sectors, there would be regulation of minister of industry. In bio energy, there would be regulation of minister of energy and mineral resource.
“The president’s regulation would not drastically be substituted. It would be alike with the previous one but there would be two regulations for other sectors they are, downstream and bioenergy sectors,” he said to InfoSAWIT by the end of September 2023.
One important thing in the new ISPO is that it is a must for very palm oil actor. “One thing to notice is that ISPO is mandatory,” Ermanto said.
The policy is hoped to be implemented on 10 November 2023 when in the commemoration of Hero National Day but the official implementation would depend on the condition and preparedness of the regulation itself.
The new ISPO would deliver chances for smallholders to get them ready. After ISPO is inaugurated, the official implementation would be the next two years. They would get 4 (four) years to implement ISPO scheme. They have enough time. (T2)
