Indonesia’s KPBN CPO Price Rises 1.54% as Malaysian Palm Oil Futures Rally

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Indonesia’s crude palm oil (CPO) reference price at PT Kharisma Pemasaran Bersama Nusantara (KPBN Inacom) rose on Thursday, October 8, 2026, gaining Rp225 per kilogram, or 1.54%, to Rp14,850/kg from Rp14,625/kg a day earlier.

According to KPBN data obtained by InfoSAWIT, the Franco Dumai CPO price was set at Rp14,850/kg, while the FOB Talang Duku price stood at Rp14,600/kg. CPO at Franco Teluk Bayur was priced at Rp14,650/kg.

The increase coincided with a strong rally in Malaysian palm oil futures, supported by market expectations that Malaysia could propose a temporary export duty exemption under its 2027 Budget.

According to Bernama, Malaysia’s benchmark CPO futures contracts closed higher across the board on Thursday. The October and November 2026 contracts each gained RM138 to RM4,448 and RM4,551 per tonne, respectively. The December 2026 contract advanced RM137 to RM4,661 per tonne.

Further along the curve, the January 2027 contract climbed RM131 to RM4,767 per tonne, while February 2027 rose RM115 to RM4,854 per tonne. The March 2027 contract added RM91 to RM4,925 per tonne.

Trading activity also strengthened. Volume increased to 160,977 lots from 70,612 lots on Wednesday, while open interest rose to 333,864 contracts from 328,944 contracts previously.

In the physical market, CPO for October delivery in southern Malaysia surged RM110 to RM4,460 per tonne.

KPBN’s CPO tender results, excluding value-added tax (VAT), showed the following prices and bids:

Franco Dumai: Rp14,850/kg — AGM

Loco PKS Luwu: No bidder

CIF Gresik Port: Rp14,850/kg withdrawn; highest bid Rp14,600/kg — WNI

FOB Talang Duku: Rp14,600/kg — AGM

Franco Teluk Bayur: Rp14,650/kg — WIRA

Loco PKS Parindu: Rp14,460/kg withdrawn; highest bid Rp14,316/kg — EUP

Loco PKS Ngabang: Rp14,475/kg withdrawn; highest bid Rp14,322/kg — EUP

Loco PKS Kembayan: Rp14,360/kg withdrawn; highest bid Rp14,206/kg — EUP

Loco PKS Pondong: Rp14,250/kg withdrawn; highest bid Rp14,106/kg — EUP

For crude palm kernel oil (CPKO), the Franco Dumai tender was withdrawn at Rp27,204/kg, with the highest bid recorded at Rp26,225/kg from IBP.

The combination of firmer domestic tender prices and gains in Malaysian futures highlights the continued influence of regional market sentiment on Indonesia’s CPO trade. Expectations surrounding Malaysia’s potential export duty policy also emerged as a key factor shaping price movements ahead of the 2027 Budget. (T2)
