Perisai Prabowo: Commitment to Monitor Biodiesel Policy for Smallholders

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA - Ahmad Kailani, Chairman of Perisai Prabowo said it would be significant to monitor and evaluate biodiesel program, namely about the numbers of the mixture to be 50 percent (B50). It would run with the smallholders’ interests. He also emphasized that it would be significant to actively get the smallholders involved in biodiesel industries and their roles should not be put aside.

He is also one investigator in Komisi Pengawas Persaingan Usaha (KPPU) and said that he always got direct field contacts namely with the smallholders to know the reality. “If FFB gets mature, it should be immediately purchased. If not, it would get rotten. This would be the loss for them. Tha is why in Perisai and Serikat Petani Kalapa Sawit (SPKS), we would monitor every policy to be fair for the smallholders and the stakeholders,” Ahmad said.

He also mentioned that what the smallholders need, would not be only about superior seeds or smallholders replanting program (SRP) but also about the government’s policies that would have something to do with the industries in a whole.

Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (PO PFMA) should also support SRP namely for the smallholders’ plantations that have been than 25 years. “PO PFMA would be the institution that managed the fund from the smallholders to get SRP but it has to be right on time and equal for the smallholders in need. Many palm oil plantations are more than 25 years and should get the program to remain the productivity or even increase the production,” he said.

Kailani thought, it would need to publish policies that take partisanship for the smallholders in the era of Prabowo Subianto. “Prabowo is very consistent with the smallholders’ rights. The government’s policy would be no more imagination only but should be down to earth, not only on papers. The partnership should directly deliver impacts for the smallholders’ welfare,” he said.

He also emphasized that B50 should deliver the real advantages for the smallholders not only for the stakeholders. “We would always keep monitoring that the partnership scheme would not deliver losses for the smallholders. The smallholders’ welfare is the main thing,” he said.

The discussion would be the significant moment for the biodiesel stakeholders to keep reinforcing the profitable partnership scheme namely for the smallholders that became unseparated part in this industry. (T2)
