PT Bank Kalteng and USAID SEGAR Signed MoU to Sustainable Palm Oil Green Funding

InfoSAWIT, PALANGKARAYA – To support sustainable palm oil sector, PT Bank Kalteng and USAID Sustainable Environmental Governance Across Regions (SEGAR) signied memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Tuesday (24/9/2024) at Swiss-Belhotel Danum Palangka Raya. It was inaugurated by the Director in duty of PT Bank Kalteng, Maslipansyah and was attended by related officials, such as, Head of Plantation Agency of Central Kalimantan Province, Rizky Ramadhana Badjuri.

The MoU would be the significant moment to get collaboration between PT Bank Kalteng and USAID SEGAR to develop green funding in environmental palm oil sectors. The cooperation would be about to promote sustainable agricultural practices and maintain the natural conservation, and area use that would be balanced with the economic development.

According to the sustainable financial report of 2023 in PT Bank Kalteng, it funded nine palm oil businesses in the province both for the companies and cooperation that focused on environmental practices. The partners also got ISPO (Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil) or RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) certificates as the sustainable certifications.

In his speech, Rizky Ramadhana Badjuri said and supported the cooperation. “Plantation Agency of Central Kalimantan Province would support the program to optimally deliver advantages namely to welfare the people in this province,” he said, as InfoSAWIT quoted from MMC Central Kalimantan, Wednesday (25/9/2024).

USAID SEGAR would be balancing the environmental conservation aspect with inclusive economic development through the program. Chief of Party USAID SEGAR, Peter Dolyle emphasized it would be significant to be part of the long term – commitment to maintain natural conservation and support the sources of living of the local.

The event was attended by some officials, stakeholders, such as, director in duty of Forestry and Water Natural Conservation in Ministry of National Development Plan/National Development Plan Agency, head of Otoritas Jasa Keuangan, head of Indonesian Bank, Central Kalimantan, representatives of Indonesian Palm Oil Association Central Kalimantan, some cooperation, such as, KUD Tani Makmur. The collaboration should be the real sample to encourage palm oil sectors heading to sustainability and escalate the people’s life in the province. (T2)
