InfoSAWIT, BOYOLALI – PT Biomassa Lestari Nusantara (BLN), the joint venture company between PT Dharma Energi Investama, the subsidiary of PT Dharma Satya Nusantara Tbk (DSNG) and PT Sumitomo Forestry Indonesia, the subsidiary of Sumitomo Forestry Co. Ltd, did conduct the first wood pellet factory commissioning in Boyolali, Central Java Province. It is hoped the factory would be commercially operating immediately.

Located in the Village of Ngadirojo, Sub district of Gladagsari, the factory was constructed in a four – hectare area with the production capacity, 60 thousand tons of wood pellet per year. This would be the first wood pellet factory in Boyolali and around and hoped to significantly deliver sustainable energy needs and activate the local economy with 100% materials from the local.

It was attended by many stakeholders, such as, the head of Village of Ngadirojo, the local police, the army, and the local. The ceremony was conducted by cutting off the ribbon and food as the symbols of prosperity, blessing, and harmony.

“This is one commitment realization of DSNG to implement circular economy concept by minimizing wood wastes and processed to be additional value – products. this is the same efforts to support renewable energy development in Indonesia,” Director of PT Dharma Satya Nusantara Tbk., Andrianto Oetomo said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Friday (20/9/2024).

Toshiro Mitsuyoshi, President Director of Sumitomo Forestry Co. Ltd, also said that the project would support decarbonization through ‘wood cycle’ concept, which meant, the wood supply chain circulation from the forestry sector to construction sector. “We would like to take advantages on wood potential and provide environmental energy solution sustainably,” he said.

The wood pellet factory was designed to process wood wastes within 10 tons per hour capacity to produce renewable energy equal to 14 MWe. The source of wood wastes would be from the local and industries, such as, veneer waste from plywood industries in Central Java and around. The factory planned to export its products to Japan.

In the commissioning phase, some tests were running to confirm that the factory would operate as standard as the healthy one and highly get efficiency. The management was optimist that after the test was accomplished, the factory would commercially operate and really contribute to provide clean energy both for Indonesia and the world.

For the factory would be operating, PT BLN hoped to reinforce Indonesia in renewable energy trade and support every effort to get carbon emission globally. (T2)
