InfoSAWIT, PONTIANAK – The 4th Indonesian Palm Oil Smallholder Conference & Expo (IPOSC) 2024 was officially inaugurated in the City of Pontianak, West Kalimantan Province. The focus would be about to increase the smallholders’ welfare through the collaboration and implementing smallholders replanting program (SRP). Director of Fund-Raising, Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (PO PFMA), Normansyah Hidayat Syahruddin appreciated every party that massively contributed in the palm oil development in Indonesia.
In his speech, he emphasized that palm oil sector played strategic roles in the economy nationally. SRP that has been starting since 2016, significantly delivers impacts to escalate smallholders’ plantation productivity and their welfare. “SRP massively delivered advantages and we hope to expand the impacts,” he said, as InfoSAWIT quoted, Thursday (19/9/2024).
Besides SRP, PO PFMA would support many initiatives to make this sector go forward by delivering helps and finance for the smallholders. He also hoped the 4th IPOSC would be the platform to inform other stakeholders, namely other planters in West Kalimantan Province to support the successful programs that were conducted.
He also said that it would be significant to reinforce coordination among the stakeholders. “Reinforcing pollination and harmony among many parties would be important to face every challenge. Even though we are facing some issues, such as, the price and climate, by having better collaboration, it is hoped to increase the smallholders’ welfare,” he said.
Normansyah emphasized it would be important to get synergy among the smallholders, the government, and the private sectors to create sustainability in palm oil sector. By having the conference and export, it is hoped there would be concrete things to solve every challenge that the smallholders are facing in many regions.
It was attended by many heads of regions from palm oil centers that also supported to increase the smallholders’ welfare. “We do hope this conference would deliver new insight for smallholders and they would optimize their plantation potential and escalate their welfare,” Normansyah said.
By having IPOSC, there would be stronger collaboration among the stakeholders to realize sustainable palm oil industries and increase the smallholders’ economy in Indonesia. (T2)
