Malaysia: Would Boost Palm Oil Exports to India

InfoSAWIT, NEW DELHI – Minister of Plantation and Commodity, Malaysia, Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani would be optimist about the future of palm oil exports from Malaysia to India. He thought, the better medium class of consumers in the country would be the main factor to the exports.

His speech in a conference that India Vegetable oil Producer Association conducted, Johari said Malaysia did export 3,3 million tons of palm oil and products to India last year. It hardly reached about US$ 3 billion. The numbers covered up 13% of the total palm oil exports from Malaysia.

He also emphasized Malaysia would be committed to be the source of high and reliable quality source of palm oil for India. “We are committed to support food security needs in India and would develop the strong and sustainable partnership that would adapt the changing demands,” he said, as InfoSAWIT quoted from Bernama, Friday (25/7/2024).

The statement emphasized the strategies of Malaysia to reinforce bilateral relationship with India by focusing on maintaining the increasing palm oil exports when the market dynamic kept developing. (T2)
