JAKARTA – Norwegian retirement insurance company, Storebrand took back its investment in 11 palm oil companies which are about breaking the sustainable standard of the company. Storebrand took its 11 of 12shares ownership in palm oil plantations, But it left Goldern Agri Resources (GAR) for implementing forest conservation policies. Indonesian Campaign Chief Greenpeace International, Bustar Maitar mentioned, the exception of GAR from the taking investment shares becomes one good proof that palm oil producer, such as, Golden Agri Resources has shown its strong commitment to protect the forest. Meanwhile, we find that many companies, such as, Noble Group, Sime Darby and IOI Corp do not have good policies to stop deforestation. They should have one turning point on what Storebrand has done and should commit to stop forest cutting as soon as very possible or they will loose one investor,” Bustar Maitar recently mentioned in his press conference which InfoSAWIT accepted.
