InfoSAWIT, ROKAN HULU – The Independent Oil Palm Smallholders Association (PPKSS) Tayo Barokah continues to demonstrate significant progress in improving services for its members. All programs implemented by the organization are focused on enhancing the long-term welfare of independent smallholders.
According to information obtained by InfoSAWIT from FORTASBI on Tuesday (April 21, 2026), after four years of effort, the farmer group located in Tapung Jaya Village, Tandun District, Rokan Hulu Regency, Riau Province, has finally begun construction of an office that will serve as an integrated service center for farmers.
The office is being built on a 25 x 70 meter plot of land, with a building size of 12 x 12 meters. Construction is targeted for completion within this year, followed by gradual installation of facilities to support optimal services.
ICS Manager Jumal stated that the office is expected to function not only as an operational center but also as a symbol of institutional strength. “We hope this office will also represent the unity of the organization and the welfare of farmers,” he said.
He explained that the facility will include a reception area, management office, kitchen, bathroom, and a meeting hall measuring 7 x 12 meters. The hall is designed to serve as a space for interaction among members and for developing strategies for sustainable palm oil cultivation.
“With a proper office, it can become a gathering place for ICS and farmers, as well as a venue to formulate strategic plans to improve smallholder welfare,” he added.
Funding for the construction comes from credit management funds that have been consistently set aside by the organization. In 2024, PPKSS Tayo Barokah allocated Rp125 million for land acquisition, while Rp200 million was used in 2025 to begin physical construction.
“We hope that with this office, both the organization and farmers can become more prosperous. The office is not just a workplace but also a space for knowledge sharing,” Jumal noted.
He also added that the office design was inspired by references from social media, aiming to create a functional and comfortable environment. Future credit growth is expected to support additional facility needs.
Established as a legal entity since 2019, PPKSS Tayo Barokah remains committed to utilizing increased yields and RSPO credit sales to strengthen the group’s business and improve service quality for independent smallholders. (T2)
