JAKARTA - The forest and peatland fire happening in Indonesia could be said as yearly events. To stop it, Deputy VI UKP4, Mas Achmad Santosa thought, it needs law and constitution enforcement so that the fire will not happen in the future. “If the next government has strong commitment to protect the ecosystem, and strong constitution, the fire can be minimized,” he said in a seminar in Jakarta in April. Furthermore, Mas Achmad said, green constitution has clear paradigm development, and the sustainability as the spirit. “The most important thing is that ‘sustainability’ is the spirit of ecology,” he explained to InfoSAWIT. But ‘sustainability’ cannot be meant as sustainable and continuous development only but also should involve the economy development so the green development concept means the economy development which is implemented based on sustainable concept.
