PalmCo Expands RSPO Certification to 67 Mills and 124 Plantations as Certified Product Sales Surge

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV PalmCo is expanding its sustainability initiatives, with 67 palm oil mills and 124 plantations certified under the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) scheme as of August 2026.

The certification progress coincides with stronger commercial performance. By September 2026, sales of certified crude palm oil (CPO) and palm kernel oil (PKO) products commanding a price premium had increased by 148% year-on-year (YoY).

PalmCo President Director Jatmiko K. Santosa said sustainability certification forms part of the company's broader governance transformation.

He emphasized that certification should go beyond administrative compliance and become an integral part of daily operations, ensuring that business processes are consistent, efficient, and accountable.

The company has also expanded the implementation of international management standards covering quality, environmental management, occupational safety, food safety, and anti-bribery controls.

As of August 2026, ISO 9001 quality management standards had been implemented across 176 units, while ISO 14001 environmental management standards covered 143 units. The company's occupational health and safety management system, known as SMK3, covered 191 units.

Meanwhile, ISO 22000 food safety management standards had been implemented at three units, while ISO 37001 anti-bribery management standards covered eight units.

Circular Economy Supports Sustainability Strategy

PalmCo Director of Strategy and Sustainability Ugun Untaryo said the company's sustainability agenda also incorporates environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles.

One focus is the circular economy, particularly optimizing the use of palm oil processing waste to generate additional economic value while reducing environmental impacts.

In the palm oil industry, this approach can help improve resource efficiency by turning processing byproducts into useful materials or commercially valuable products.

Certified Products Create Market Opportunities

The 148% annual increase in premium-priced certified CPO and PKO sales highlights the commercial opportunities associated with sustainability standards.

However, the actual premium received depends on market conditions, buyer requirements, certification schemes, and individual transactions.

PalmCo plans to continue expanding certification coverage and integrating ESG principles into its operations, with a focus on governance, environmental management, resource efficiency, and circular economy initiatives.

Through these efforts, the company aims to strengthen competitiveness while supporting more responsible and sustainable palm oil production. (T2)
