BERAU–To implement REDD+(Reducing Emmission from Deforestation and Forest Degradation, Provincial Government ofEast Kalimantan and the local government of Berau continue the cooperation with the Administrator Board (AB) of REDD+ which had been signed in 2013.
“We continue the cooperation and would make potencial programmes in District Of Berau to be developed in REDD+ and will belong to the people in general. This is part of integrated activities in vertical platform,” Chairman of AB REDD+ Heru Prasetyo in his press released which InfoSAWIT got, Friday (16/5/2014).
Heru also emphasized, the REDD+ programmes should derive from the needs of the people and become parts of activities in District of Berau, East Kalimantan.
Meanwhile the II Assitant of the Regent Berau, Suparno explained, REDD+ programme in District of Berau were arraged and managed based on the suggestions of the government and they gave the suggestions to AB REDD+ through the Provincial Government of East Kalimantan.
“After the suggestions were studied together with AB REDD+, the potential programmes will be identified to be implemented in our regions. The suggestions are the empowerment of Berau Forest Carbon Programme, Forest Costomary Region of West Berau and the Forest Management in People-base, such as, village forest, costumary forest and green forest of REDD +,” he said.(T3)
