InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Indonesia’s National Development Planning Minister, Rachmat Pambudy, emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration and innovation in strengthening global food security through regenerative agriculture.
Speaking at the 3rd Integrated Cattle and Oil Palm Conference (ICOP), he highlighted the growing pressures from geopolitical tensions, climate change, and domestic food demand.
Rachmat noted that each hectare of oil palm plantation can produce around 13 tons of dry biomass annually, which can be utilized as livestock feed—an opportunity that remains underutilized.
“Palm and livestock integration can transform the sector into a circular bioeconomy system, linking food, energy, and water in a single ecosystem,” he said.
The approach is expected to improve efficiency, reduce emissions, and diversify income for smallholders. (T2)
