InfoSAWIT, POPAYATO – Community pressure is mounting in East Popayato District, Pohuwato Regency, Gorontalo, as activists and residents demand plantation companies fulfill their obligation to develop smallholder plasma schemes.
Based on official information received on April 8, 2026, the plasma program has yet to be realized despite years of company operations, sparking frustration among local farmers.
In addition to plasma issues, residents highlighted unresolved land certification problems that have persisted for years without clarity, further eroding public trust.
Local activist Muarif Radji stressed that the community would not remain silent.
“We demand the company immediately realize the plasma scheme. This is a right of the people, not an empty promise,” he asserted.
Residents also called for accelerated land certification, improved access roads, and greater corporate accountability.
Activists criticized the company’s absence during demonstrations, viewing it as a lack of commitment to fulfilling investment obligations.
They vowed to continue protests until concrete action is taken. (T2)
