InfoSAWIT, KUALA LUMPUR – Indonesian Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arif Havas Oegroseno, affirmed the importance of developing sustainable palm oil trade to compete in the European Union (EU) market. He delivered this statement online at the RSPO Annual Roundtable Conference on Sustainable Palm Oil (RT2025) on Tuesday (5/11/2025).
Oegroseno emphasized that implementing sustainability principles and criteria must be the foundation for the national palm oil industry's development.
"Sustainable development can be a strength for farmers so that the palm oil products comply with the EUDR requirements in the European Union market," he said.
The Vice Minister also highlighted the difficulties faced by palm oil farmers regarding the EUDR regulation, especially the requirement to include polygon map information of their plantations. He compared this challenge to that faced by cattle farmers in the EU, who also require forest land for their activities. (T1)
