Musim Mas Partners with UINSU to Build Postgraduate Smart Class, Creating a Future-Ready Learning Space

InfoSAWIT, MEDAN — The commitment of the private sector to strengthening the quality of higher education has once again been demonstrated by Musim Mas. The globally integrated palm oil company has officially entered into a partnership with Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara (UINSU) through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the development of a modern and adaptive Smart Class learning facility.

The agreement was signed on 19 December 2025 at the UINSU campus in Medan and marks Musim Mas’s first collaboration with a State Islamic Higher Education Institution (PTKIN) in Indonesia. The program focuses on renovating postgraduate classrooms to better support increasingly dynamic academic processes, including online lectures with international faculty members.

The MoA signing was attended by UINSU Vice Rector IV for Cooperation and Institutional Development, Prof. Dr. Muzakhir, M.Ag., representing UINSU Rector Prof. Dr. Nurhayati, M.Ag., along with university leadership. Representing Musim Mas were President Director Gunawan Siregar, Head of Corporate HR Lenny, and the company’s management team.

The collaboration stems from open dialogue between UINSU and Musim Mas regarding learning infrastructure challenges. With approximately 6,000 new students admitted annually, UINSU requires continuously evolving academic facilities to keep pace with the growing complexity of higher education demands.

Speaking on behalf of the Rector, Prof. Muzakhir expressed appreciation for the partnership. He emphasized that collaboration with the private sector aligns with directives from the Ministry of Religious Affairs. “PTKIN institutions are encouraged not only to collaborate with fellow educational institutions, but also with the business and industrial sectors. Musim Mas is a major company widely recognized in North Sumatra, and we are grateful that this partnership has been so positively received,” he stated in an official release quoted by InfoSAWIT on Saturday (27/12/2025).

In response to these needs, Musim Mas agreed to support the development of a Smart Class with a capacity of up to 100 students. The learning space is designed as a comfortable, flexible, and technology-based classroom to promote more interactive learning. Construction is targeted for completion within four months, allowing the facility to be utilized promptly by the academic community.

President Director of Musim Mas, Gunawan Siregar, affirmed that the partnership is part of the company’s long-term commitment to supporting national education. “Musim Mas has long partnered with various universities and educational institutions. This time, we are continuing that commitment with UINSU, one of North Sumatra’s leading universities ranked among Indonesia’s top 100 universities by EduRank 2025. This is also our first collaboration with a PTKIN,” he explained.

As a company that has grown and developed in Indonesia, Musim Mas places education as a core pillar of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs. The company believes that education is a vital foundation for sustainable development and for enhancing the global competitiveness of Indonesia’s human resources.

“We hope this Smart Class will deliver tangible benefits for UINSU postgraduate lecturers and students, while serving as our concrete contribution to advancing Indonesian education,” Gunawan concluded. (T2)
