INSTIPER Yogyakarta Marks 67th Anniversary, Accelerates Transition Toward a Smart University

InfoSAWIT, YOGYAKARTA — The Institute of Agricultural Sciences STIPER (INSTIPER) Yogyakarta celebrated its 67th anniversary on December 10, 2025, using the occasion as a milestone to reaffirm its institutional transformation toward a modern, adaptive, and digitally driven higher education institution.

This year’s anniversary underscored INSTIPER’s commitment to becoming a Smart University through comprehensive digitalization of its learning ecosystem. The transformation responds to rapid technological developments in agriculture, plantations, and forestry, as well as the evolving learning behavior of younger generations.

INSTIPER Rector Dr. Harsawardana, speaking at the Open Senate Meeting held at GRHA INSTIPER, said the transformation rests on four main pillars.

“INSTIPER’s transformation focuses on digitalization and automation, technological innovation, learning management, and network strengthening. In education, curricula and teaching methods will fully adapt to the needs of a technology-dependent generation,” he said in an official statement to InfoSAWIT on Monday (December 15, 2025).

The anniversary celebration featured a series of strategic events held from December 7–15, including a family gathering, a Palm Oil Human Resources Workshop, and an Open Senate Meeting reporting institutional achievements.

A key highlight was the groundbreaking of the Technology and Innovation Center, envisioned as a hub for agricultural, plantation, and forestry research, innovation, and technology incubation. The facility will support smart farming, drone systems, automation, digital campus services, and modern learning management.

INSTIPER also held the Digital Learning Ecosystem Technology Expo, showcasing innovations such as GIS-based research, remote sensing, drone technology, and student-led co-curricular programs.

According to the rector, the exhibition demonstrated INSTIPER’s tangible role in developing sustainable and precision agriculture technologies, with some participating companies even expressing interest in recruiting students before graduation. (T2)
