InfoSAWIT, GORONTALO — The Gorontalo Provincial Government is moving swiftly to follow up on five recommendations issued by Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regarding improvements in palm oil sector governance across the region. The matter was discussed in an evaluation meeting led by Governor Gusnar Ismail at the Governor’s Official Residence on Wednesday (26/11/2025). Representatives from the regencies of Gorontalo, Boalemo, and Pohuwato—three key palm-oil-producing areas—also attended.
Earlier, the KPK delivered five recommendations based on its monitoring and evaluation of the palm oil sector in Gorontalo. These include mapping the status of Plantation Business Licenses (IUP), collecting outstanding taxes and regional levies, identifying land-related issues and social conflicts, community outreach, and resolving various licensing problems.
Governor Gusnar emphasized that local governments have been given until 30 November 2025 to complete all required follow-ups. “We still have one to two days to finalize the report before submitting it to the KPK. All of KPK’s recommendations are valuable to ensure that the palm oil sector truly benefits the region,” he stated as quoted by InfoSAWIT from Antara on Sunday (30/11/2025).
Gorontalo Provincial Inspector, Zukri Surotinojo, noted that most recommendations have already been acted upon by both provincial and regency governments. The compiled data will serve as material for joint discussions between the KPK and relevant ministries to determine the next steps for improving palm oil governance.
“Alhamdulillah, almost all of the required points have been executed. Some items still need to be pushed to completion before the 30 November deadline,” he said.
Once the report is submitted, the KPK will facilitate further discussions in Jakarta, bringing together regional governments and technical ministries. This process is expected to produce concrete solutions to various governance issues in Gorontalo’s palm oil sector, ranging from IUP validation to land dispute settlement.
The Gorontalo Provincial Government hopes that these governance improvements will strengthen the sector’s contribution to regional revenue while minimizing future legal risks. (T2)
