InfoSAWIT, KETAPANG — A long journey of commitment by smallholder palm oil farmers in Ketapang has finally borne fruit. The Ketapang Palm Oil Smallholders Association (PPSK) has officially obtained Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) certification, marking a significant milestone toward globally recognized sustainable agricultural practices.
PPSK Chairman Sudarto said the organization oversees 10 cooperatives and two CVs, representing 1,223 farmers managing a total plantation area of 2,238 hectares.
“This was not a short journey. We completed all RSPO audit stages step by step,” he told InfoSAWIT, quote from Fortasbi, Tuesday (25/11/2025).
The first audit was conducted by PT TUV Rheinland Indonesia in late May 2024, followed by a second audit on 19 December 2024. After rigorous verification and evaluation processes, PPSK was officially declared certified on 17 January 2025.
The achievement represents an important step for Ketapang’s smallholders. Beyond strengthening their position in global supply chains, RSPO certification opens wider market access and increases the added value of their production.
Sudarto emphasized that the certification is not an endpoint but a new beginning. “We want sustainable practices to become more than documents—they must become part of our farming culture,” he said.
With this certification in hand, PPSK hopes more smallholders in Ketapang will be encouraged to adopt sustainable principles for a stronger future of the region’s palm oil sector. (T2)
