InfoSAWIT, MEDAN — The Bahana Anwar Karim Marching Band from Riau delivered an outstanding performance at the Grand Prix Junior Band (GPJB) XXI–2025 in Tangerang, securing multiple titles in the national competition held on 16 November.
The elementary-level band—formed in 2023 from SDS Anwar Karim I and II—competed in the junior division and earned:
1st Place: Junior Concert, Field Commander, Entertainment, Visual Presentation, Musical Presentation
2nd Place: Field Commander, Duet Horn Display, Color Guard
3rd Place: Ensemble Music, Ensemble Visual
4th Overall Placement in Junior Division
Junior Division Favorite Award
Coordinator Halimatun Sakdiah highlighted the effort behind the achievement. “Keeping discipline and stamina high was our biggest challenge, but the students’ spirit never faded,” she said.
The team is now setting its sights on larger competitions, including the Piala Raja in Yogyakarta and a hoped-for performance at the State Palace.
SDS Anwar Karim, located within Musim Mas Group’s plantation area, provides education for children of plantation workers and local communities. The foundation operates 11 kindergartens, 11 primary schools, and 3 junior high schools across company estates, underscoring its commitment to expanding quality education and youth development. (T2)
