InfoSAWIT, PALANGKARAYA — Efforts to involve the younger generation in sustainable palm oil education continue to be intensified by the Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil Smallholders Forum (FORTASBI). Through training titled Engaging Young Content Creators for Educating Generation Z about Independent Farmers and Sustainable Palm Oil, held in Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan, on September 25–27, 2025, 18 participants from various regions in Indonesia showed high enthusiasm in raising sustainable palm oil issues through digital media.
Participants came from Aceh, North Sumatra, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, West Kalimantan, Jambi, and Central Kalimantan. From the activity, participants successfully produced 36 creative content works with diverse perspectives and narratives — from inspirational stories of independent farmers to education about environmentally friendly plantation practices.
As reported by InfoSAWIT from Fortasbi, Monday (20/10/2025), from dozens of works produced, FORTASBI finally selected two best young creators, namely Hikmah Yani Chaniago from Subulussalam, Aceh, and Nabillah Nissya Fadhilah from Yogyakarta. They will represent Indonesia and FORTASBI as ambassadors for YOUth @ RT2025, a new initiative from the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) that for the first time brings youth from various countries to the annual Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RT2025) conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on November 3–5, 2025.
The RT conference itself is a global forum that brings together RSPO members, industry stakeholders, academics, and civil society organizations to discuss trends, innovations, and current challenges in the sustainable palm oil industry. This year, RSPO introduced YOUth @ RT2025 as a special space for the younger generation to get directly involved, discuss, and network with industry leaders to build a more inclusive and resilient palm oil future.
The YOUth @ RT2025 program is attended by 30 young participants aged 18–35 from various countries, consisting of students, young professionals, innovators, and activists in sustainable agriculture, climate action, and environmental protection. Participants will gain direct experience through discussions, workshops, and cross-country collaborations.
FORTASBI expressed pride in the selection of these two young ambassadors. “We hope the presence of Hikmah and Nabillah at YOUth @ RT2025 can inspire more Indonesian youth to understand and contribute to the development of sustainable palm oil,” stated FORTASBI's official statement.
Through this step, FORTASBI affirms its commitment to building bridges between independent farmers and the younger generation, so that Indonesia's palm oil narrative is not only about production, but also about sustainability, innovation, and an inclusive green future. (T2)
