Olenka's Sawit on Town Event Returns, Highlights Health Benefits of Palm Oil

InfoSAWIT, BOGOR – Olenka has once again hosted its public education event, "Sawit on Town" (SWOT) 2025. Now in its third edition, the event, held on Sunday (September 14, 2025) at Pakansari Stadium in Cibinong, West Java, provided a platform for the public to learn about the benefits of palm oil, particularly its health aspects.

Edy Nurmansyah, the founder of Olenka Kreasi Festival, emphasized Indonesia’s good fortune in having palm oil as a strategic commodity. “Palm oil is not just cooking oil. We encounter it every day in soap, shampoo, detergent, lipstick, bread, chocolate, biscuits, margarine, and even baby formula,” Edy said in a statement.

SWOT 2025 was a collaboration with the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP). Muhammad Farouq Rosyadi, an analyst at BPDP's Institutional Cooperation Division, underscored the importance of palm oil literacy across generations. “Public understanding must be comprehensive, not just from an economic perspective, but also from a health and nutritional standpoint,” he noted.

The link between palm oil and health was a key topic in the SWOT Talks session. Dr. Inggrid Tania, M.Si, the General Chair of PDPOTJI, stated that palm oil is safe for consumption as long as it is used in proper amounts. “One tablespoon per meal is sufficient. Palm oil is also rich in provitamin A for eye health and tocotrienol vitamin E, which helps protect the liver and brain,” she explained.

Public perception of palm oil was also a point of discussion. Cahyo Prayogo, Olenka's Editor-in-Chief, said public awareness is now far more positive than a decade ago. “Palm oil is Indonesia's proud flagship commodity. Don’t be easily swayed by negative issues; make sure your information comes from credible sources,” he asserted. (T2)
