CPO Prices Decline Amid Broader Market Pressure

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA - The price of crude palm oil (CPO) at Indonesia's PT. Kharisma Pemasaran Bersama Nusantara (KPBN) saw a decline on Thursday, September 18, 2025. The CPO price was set at IDR 14,623/kg, marking a drop of IDR 87/kg, or approximately 0.59%, from Wednesday's price of IDR 14,710/kg.

According to data obtained by InfoSAWIT from KPBN, the CPO price for Franco Dumai was established at IDR 14,623/kg. Meanwhile, the Loco Pelaihari price opened at IDR 14,069/kg but was withdrawn (WD), with the highest bid reaching IDR 13,466/kg.

On the global front, Malaysian palm oil futures traded on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange were once again under pressure on Thursday, reversing gains from the previous day. This downturn was largely influenced by negative movements in soyoil prices on the Dalian and Chicago exchanges.

The benchmark palm oil contract for December delivery fell by RM 48 per tonne, or 1.07%, to RM 4,427 (US$1,055.56) per tonne during the midday break.

Negative sentiment also came from Brazil, where a judge rejected a request from a farmers' group to lift a ban on trading soybeans grown in recently deforested areas of the Amazon. This decision upholds the Soy Moratorium, a private, nearly two-decade-old agreement aimed at protecting the Amazon rainforest.

In the United States, attention turned to a new proposal from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to reallocate biofuel blending obligations to larger refineries as part of the Small Refinery Exemption (SRE) program.

Meanwhile, the most-active soyoil contract on the Dalian exchange plummeted 1.71%, with the palm oil contract on the same exchange also weakening by 2%. Soyoil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) also fell, dropping 0.62%.
