InfoSAWIT, BOGOR – The Ministry of Agriculture, through its Directorate General of Plantations, is continuously strengthening stakeholders' readiness to face the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), which will significantly impact Indonesian plantation commodity access to the global market.

One of the efforts being pursued is the Sustainability and Value Added in Agricultural Supply Chains in Indonesia (SASCI Plus) project. This program is a technical collaboration between the Government of Indonesia and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany, facilitated by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

According to the Directorate General of Plantations on Wednesday (9/3/2025), since May 2024, SASCI Plus, along with SAKA DALA, has conducted a series of activities under the EUDR Engagement component. This initiative opens a space for dialogue among the government, farmers, business players, associations, and academics to discuss readiness for the EUDR and strengthen the competitiveness of plantation commodities in the international market.

The Directorate General of Plantations also held a "Stakeholder Readiness Workshop to Face the Implementation of EUDR" on Friday (8/22). The forum aimed to improve the understanding of business players, associations, and academics regarding the new EU regulation and its connection to the Cultivation Registration Certificate (STDB) system.

Through this forum, the Ministry of Agriculture emphasized the importance of cross-sector synergy so that Indonesia's leading commodities, such as rubber, cocoa, and coffee, can meet international standards while maintaining competitiveness in the global market. (T2)
