InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – The Oil Palm Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP) has set a target for Indonesia's crude palm oil (CPO) production to reach 60 million tons by 2030.
BPDP CEO, Eddy Abdurrachman, said the target is in line with the increasing demand for CPO in the food, biodiesel, and oleochemical industries. "By 2030, the target is for CPO production to reach 60 million tons, which can then be utilized to meet the needs for food, oleochemicals, and biofuels," Eddy said while attending the Signing of a Cooperation Agreement for the 2025 Oil Palm Plantation Human Resources Education Scholarship, on Wednesday (20/8/2025).
Currently, Indonesia's CPO production is around 50 million tons per year. According to Eddy, extra efforts are needed to increase production over the next five years. In addition to meeting domestic needs, the production increase is also expected to maintain export performance. Eddy emphasized that exports are the main source of funding for BPDP's programs through palm oil export levies.
"Because exports are very important for BPDP, the funds we collect come from export levies. So if exports decline, our levies also decrease, which reduces BPDP's ability to fund our programs," he explained. As a supporting strategy, BPDP has rolled out a human resources development program for the palm oil sector, ranging from educational scholarships to technical training.
"Our obligation is to increase the knowledge, skills, professionalism, independence, and competitiveness of plantation human resources, both in technical, managerial, and entrepreneurial aspects," said Eddy. (T2)
