InfoSAWIT, ACEH — Efforts to strengthen human resource capacity in the palm oil plantation sector are being intensified. The Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP) in collaboration with the Directorate General of Plantations, Ministry of Agriculture, and IPB Training officially opened Technical Training on Palm Oil Plantation Mapping, which will take place from August 5 to 8, 2025, in Aceh Province.
This activity is part of the 2025 Palm Oil Human Resource Development Training Program, Batch 1-3, which focuses on enhancing technical skills in land mapping for plantations.
A total of 89 participants from two palm oil central districts in Aceh, namely Aceh Tamiang (60 people) and Aceh Timur (29 people), are recorded to participate in this training. The participants consist of farmers, extension workers, and technical plantation actors who are ready to deepen their skills in mapping.
The Director of IPB Training, Muhammad Sigit Susanto, in his speech emphasized the importance of mastering mapping technology as a basis for more efficient and sustainable plantation management. "This training is not just about using tools, but also about how to map potential, problems, and solutions in the field accurately," he stated in an official statement received by InfoSAWIT, Tuesday (5/8/2025).
The opening event was also attended by M. Apuk Ismane, representing the Head of the Agricultural Extension and Human Resource Development Agency (BPPSDMP), who emphasized that this program is part of the government's commitment to continuously improve the quality of human resources in the palm oil sector throughout Indonesia.
Meanwhile, the Director of Palm Oil and Other Palma Plants, Baginda Siagian, stressed the importance of inter-agency collaboration in supporting the sustainability of the national palm oil industry. "With accurate land data, plantation planning will be more targeted, and productivity can be increased," he said.
The symbolic opening of the training was conducted by Mukhlis, the Head of the Agricultural and Plantation Extension and Human Resource Development Division of Aceh Province. In his speech, Mukhlis stated that this training is highly relevant for Aceh, which has significant potential in the palm oil sector.
Participants will receive intensive training on the fundamentals of plantation land mapping, introduction and use of mapping equipment, tracking techniques, field data processing, as well as the presentation of digital maps and practical mapping of plantations using a participatory approach, supported by several competent speakers in their fields.
With the opening of this training, it is hoped that participants can return to their respective areas with new knowledge and skills that can be directly applied to strengthen the management of palm oil plantations in a modern, sustainable, and data-driven manner. (T2)
