InfoSAWIT, BANDUNG - The 3rd Technology and Talent Palm Oil Mill Indonesia (TPOMI) 2025 exhibition and conference commenced on July 8-10, 2025, at the Holiday Inn Bandung Pasteur, West Java. This event serves as a strategic platform to connect industry players, technology providers, academics, and policymakers to strengthen the synergy between technology and human resources in addressing the challenges of sustainable palm oil processing.
Organized by Media Perkebunan in collaboration with the Professional Plantation Practitioners Association (P3PI), the 3rd TPOMI 2025 features the overarching theme "Updating Technology & Talent for Palm Oil Mill and Downstream."
The event was officially opened on Wednesday, July 9, by Ir. Bambang, M.M., Deputy for Plant Quarantine, alongside Dida Gardera, ST., M.Sc., Expert Staff for Connectivity and Service Development at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, and Ir. Posma Sinurat, Chairman of P3PI and Chief Executive of TPOMI.
In his remarks, Ir. Posma Sinurat encouraged palm oil industry players to collaborate in creating better, more effective, efficient, and environmentally conscious products and human resources. "We have invited over 30 exhibitors and hope this event can bridge practitioners with entrepreneurs and academics to create quality and sustainable products and human resources," he stated during his address, which was attended by InfoSAWIT.
Meanwhile, Ir. Bambang expressed concern over the negative public perception surrounding palm oil, which is often perpetuated even domestically. "Through media, we must promote to the world that palm oil is the best crop for tropical forest conservation. We hope that through Media Perkebunan, we can demonstrate that palm oil entrepreneurs are very pro-people, prioritizing not only their interests but also those of farmers, workers, and research sectors," he said.
As the Deputy for Plant Quarantine, Ir. Bambang also highlighted his role in the Indonesian palm oil sector. In addition to safeguarding resources, the Plant Quarantine sector is involved in seed traffic activities, ensuring sanitary conditions for palm oil products, and facilitating exports.
Dida Gardera, ST., MT., discussed the "ISPO Information System in Presidential Regulation No. 16 of 2025." The ISPO Information System regulation includes general provisions to guidance and supervision, with an ISPO governance architecture based on existing information systems and an ISPO Committee.
The 3rd TPOMI 2025 features various competent speakers from ministries, palm oil processing technology providers, industry associations, research bodies, and the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP).
Mohamad Alfansyah, Director of Fund Distribution for the BPDP, outlined the agency's role in developing the palm oil industry. As the world's largest palm oil producer, Indonesia contributes approximately 59 percent of global production. In comparison, Malaysia, the second-largest producer, has a production volume of 19,400,000 MT, while Indonesia's stands at 46,000,000 MT.
To maintain palm oil production in Indonesia, the BPDP facilitates financing for the People's Palm Oil Rejuvenation (PSR) program and research initiatives. Through the TPOMI 2025 event, he hopes that BPDP funds can be distributed more effectively and targeted, particularly for the welfare of farmers. He views this event as a golden opportunity for collaboration with various stakeholders.
The 3rd TPOMI 2025 also showcases various technological innovations from industries involved in palm oil processing over the two-day event (July 9-10, 2025), featuring cutting-edge solutions such as AI-based processing machines, IoT, automated control systems, energy efficiency technologies, and production monitoring software aimed at palm oil mills and their supporting business units.
This event is expected to open cross-sector collaboration opportunities and accelerate the adoption of modern technology in Indonesian palm oil mills, making them more effective, efficient, and sustainable. (T3)
