InfoSAWIT, KELPA KAMPIT — The atmosphere at the PT Steelindo Wahana Perkasa (SWP) cooking oil processing plant seemed busier than usual on Monday (5/19/2025). Amidst the roar of machines and packaging activities, the Governor of the Bangka Belitung Islands, Hidayat Arsani, came directly to review the production process of one of the community's basic necessities, cooking oil.
Accompanied by Acting Regional Secretary of the Province Fery Afriyanto and Deputy Regent of East Belitung Khairil Anwar, Governor Hidayat was welcomed by the company's board of directors. This visit is part of the local government's efforts to ensure smooth distribution and price stability of cooking oil in the Bangka Belitung Islands region.
"Today we are directly reviewing our oil production with the Deputy Regent. Alhamdulillah, the distribution for the Bangka Belitung region is quite good and the price is also quite stable," said Hidayat after reviewing the production and packaging lines, as reported by InfoSAWIT from the Babel Provincial Government, Tuesday (20/5/2025).
The governor highlighted the importance of PT SWP's role in maintaining the availability of local cooking oil. He appreciated the company's commitment to continue supplying products to the market at affordable prices. "We must maintain cheap cooking oil and stable prices like this. Because this concerns the economy of our people," he said.
During the visit, the group witnessed firsthand the various stages of production — from checking the measurements to the distribution mechanism to various points of sale. Quality and efficiency are the two main aspects highlighted in the process.
PT SWP is known as one of the largest cooking oil producers in Bangka Belitung. With high production capacity and an integrated distribution system, the company has contributed greatly to food security and regional market stability.
The Governor's working visit emphasized the Provincial Government's commitment to strengthening the palm oil downstream sector and maintaining the smooth supply chain of basic commodities. Amid the dynamics of national food prices, direct supervision steps like this are considered crucial to ensure that people's needs are met at friendly prices.
As a palm oil producing region, Bangka Belitung continues to encourage the role of local processing industries to provide wider economic benefits to the community.
