InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Two palm oil factories (POFs) of PT Hindoli belonging to Cargill Indonesia in South Sumatera, Sungai Lilin and Tanjung Dalam got the Green award of Program Penilaian Peringkat Kinerja Perusahaan Dalam Pengelolaan Lingkungan (PROPER) 2019 from ministry of environment and forestry (MEF), Indonesian Republic. The award was given because they are good at environmental management.
According to MEF, from the evaluation result to 2.045 companies, it was decided that there were 174 companies having Green rank. It was given to the companies which run the environmental management beyond compliance through the environmental management system, the advantage of efficient natural resource and the social responsibility well.
The award is the real proof of sustainable ways that Cargill does to realize the targets in the environment globally – by using the energy and fresh water more efficient, reducing the green – house gas emission, using the electricity from the renewable source – which everything has given the economic, environmental, and social advantages for the customers, people, and the business.
Years before six POFs of Cargill got the awards from the government of Indonesia for the sustainable production, (Green Industry Award) 2019 level V which was the highest award given by ministry of industries, Indonesia Republic. It was the fourth award got by POF Sungai Lilin and Tanjung Dalam in South Sumatera for the last four years in a row.
From what InfoSAWIT recorded, the main industry of PT Hindoli, Cargill Tropical Palm since July 2011 declared to produce crude palm oil (CPO) which is exported to America, Canada, Europe, and New Zealand has passed the sustainable certificate published by Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO).
After Cargill got RSPO certificate, the subsidiary, PT Hindoli in 2009 certified the plantations based on International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC). Not only the main plantations, the plasma ones got the RSPO and ISCC certificates.
The company also has implemented and got Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) certificate in 2013. Then other subsidiary of Cargill, PT Poliplant Sejahtera in 2017 got ISPO certificate and it is said that two others are in process to get ISPO certificate.
In the future, Cargill is committed to implement the sustainable palm oil cultivation and produce 1oo% sustainable CPO to fulfill the vegetable oil needs in the world.(T2)
