CPO Export Volume by October 2019 Decreased 6% when It was Increase US$ 140/ton

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – According to Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA), the crude palm oil (CPO) export volume by October 2019 decreased 6% compared to September 2019.

But in the lauric oil, it was increasing 64%. The high increasing may happen for the carry-over of the small exports in September 2019. Oleo-chemical was increasing too (18%). Compared to export volume in January – October 2018, the oleo-chemical increased about 2%. The biggest exports were in oleo-chemical (113%) and CPO (17%).

As in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Monday (23/12/2019), the exports to Pakistan in October increased more than 100 thousand tons (+52%) compared to September, while the exports to Africa in October reached 270 thousand tons smaller (-41%) than the exports in September. But year on year the exports to Pakistan were 5% smaller but to Africa, the exports were still better 88% than those in last year.

While in October 2019m the CPO price drastically got better from US$ 520/ton iin the early of the month to be US$ 660/ton CIF Rotterdam in the end of October 2019. “The better CPO price was a relief for the stakeholders and the planters after some years they got the cheap price,” Executive Director of IPOA, Mukti Sardjono said.

The better price give opportunity for the stakeholders and the planters to recover the factories and the plantations to produce normally. The right time to recover the plantations would be in the end of 2019 or in the early of 2020 to produce normally because based on Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency, the rain in 2019/2020 would be normal. “But the recovery would take some time,” he said.
