InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – In the recent days, Director of Bioenergy, General Directorate of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conversion, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources discussed that the smallholders are potential to directly involve in the biodiesel production (B20 – B30) by supplying the fresh fruit bunch (FFB) from their plantations to the biodiesel factories.
Director of Bioenergy, General Directorate of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conversion, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Andriah Feby Misna said that the government is considering that the biodiesel material could be from the smallholders around the biodiesel factories.
Then the data of the smallholders around the factories are collected still from the plantation agency in cooperation with the smallholders’ associations, such as, Serikat Petani Kelapa Sawit (SPKS).
Meanwhile, General Secretary of SPKS, Mansuetus Darto said that the smallholders really want this for a very long time. “There should be transformation of the supply chain which could be the loss for the smallholders. Actually the smallholders’ unions should directly sell theirs to the biodiesel factories,” he recently said.
He also mentioned that the process could start by the mapping, the legal areas of the smallholders, until the support to Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) program. “As the first thing, data of our members around the company would be prepared to produce biodiesel. Besides they should be always developed to empower their institution to do cooperation between the smallholders and the companies,” he said. (T2)
