InfoSAWIT, BOGOR – The professor of Faculty of Forestry, Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB), Prof DR Yanto Santosa agreed that it needs to point one or single authority to make the detail of the complexity and get the solution in tenure conflict in palm oil plantations in Indonesia. Furthermore the big palm oil plantations derived from the forest regions which were released.
“From the regulation perspective, Ministry of Agrarian and Spatial/National Land Agency has the absolute authority from the laws between the license which is attached to the spatial,” Yanto said in the Forum Group Discussion (FGD) within the theme “Aspek Tenurial dalam Pengelolaan Lahan untuk Perkebunan dan Hutan Tanaman Industri (HTI)” in the campus of Faculty of Agriculture in IPB Darmaga, Bogor.
He also suggested that in the future it needs to decide the clear regions which are allocated as the forest regions and for the economic interests. “This is important that when the issues about deforestation come up, the government within its sovereignty could explain to the international world about the policy of land advantage (use) in Indonesia,” he said in the official statement InfoSAWIT, Wednesday (29/5/2019).
He also mentioned that the damage in forest regions should have no moratorium for they are no productive, could be taken and easy to burn. “One solution to keep the unproductive regions is by giving the authority to the private and the people to cultivate them,” he said.
The private and the people would have two functions, such as, the supervisor and the functions of economy to the unproductive regions. “Just give the unproductive regions to the bona fide private companies for they could advantage the regions and keep the regions out of the fire and pillage,” Yanto said.
