InfoSAWIT, SINTANG –Serikat Petani Kelapa Sawit (SPKS) recently handed over the Draft of Academic Documents to publish the Regulation of Regent of Sintang about the Plantation Partnership and the Facility to Develop the Smallholders’ Plantation to the Regent of Sintang, DR. H. Jarot Winarno, M.Med.Ph., Thursday (27/3/2019) in the office of Agriculture and Plantation Agency, District of Sintang.
The documents are the result of what SPKS studied about the commitment of the regent about the plantation partnership regulation and the obligation to develop the smallholders’ plantations about 20% of the total palm oil company’s plantations.
Chairman of SPKS Distric of Sintang, Kornelis said that there should be regulation about those mentioned above.
“We got many complaints and saw the reality in the field about the partnership issue. The government should develop and regulate it clearly to realize the smallholders’ empowerment and increase their productivity,” Kornelis said in the official statement to InfoSAWIT recently.
The independent smallholder in Village of Telaga Dua, Sub district of Binjai, Yustinus Laud said that for all these years, their fresh fruit bunch (FFB) was not selling through the partnership with factory. “We still depend on the middlemen and this influences our FFB and we got minimal empowerment’ program,” he said.
So we hoped that the regulation should be immediately published and make sure that smallholders in Sintang could do better plantations in the future.
The expert of Agrarian Constitution of IHCS (Indonesian Human Rights Committee for Social Justice), Gunawan who is also proposing and arrangging the draft said that many things in palm oil plantations may indicate that the facility of the people’s plantation development is led to the main-plasma scheme and within one stop management that the company runs.
“As a matter of fact, every company is obliged to develop the smallholders’ plantations and be responsible to the social and environment,” he said. (T2)
