InfoSAWIT, MEDAN – In the series of 'Road to May Day 2019', Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA) runs many initiatives, workshop, campaign, and promotion to implement the good work and children hospitality, both in the companies and the smallholders.

Chairman in Labors, IPOA, Sumarjono Saragih said that palm oil plantation sector has 3 stakeholders, they are, the planters, the smallholders, and the government. “Unfortunately the government may not pay attention the labors issues in palm oil plantations,” he said.

About the labors, he continued, IPOA as the palm oil plantation association, could not handle every issue. Based on the internal data, only 30% of the palm oil plantations where the stakeholders (as the mmbers of IPOA) cultivate. The rests are not the members.

“But we keep supporting others to improve, namely in the main issues, such as, the status of workers, social dialogue, health and safety insurance, children, and inspection of the labors,” he said in a seminar in Jakarta where InfoSAWIT attended recently. (T2)
